ATL Remembrance Day Proposal

ATL Remembrance Day Proposal

There is no single day where every victim of the Troubles is remembered together. Thousands of lives were lost, yet remembrance remains divided.

For over three decades, the conflict took men, women, and children from all backgrounds. Some names are remembered publicly. Many are not. Some stories are told. Others have faded quietly into the past.

Today, remembrance often happens within communities, not across them. There is no shared moment where every life is acknowledged equally.

ATL believes this must change.

There should be one official day of remembrance for every victim of the Troubles – without division, without politics, without exception.

Why This Matters

  • Every victim is acknowledged equally
  • Remembrance moves beyond division
  • Shared loss is recognised across all communities
  • No life is forgotten

The Proposal

ATL is calling for the creation of a single, shared day of remembrance.

When enough public support is gathered, this proposal will be formally presented to the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland.
