Loyalist Figure Accused Of Taking Money From Prison Fund

Loyalist Figure Accused Of Taking Money From Prison Fund

A loyalist figure known as “Butcher” has been accused of taking money from a prison support fund linked to jailed loyalist Winston ‘Winkie’ Irvine, according to a report.

The claims centre on funds that had been collected to support Irvine while in custody, with allegations that some of that money has gone missing.

The report states that the individual accused had been removed from their position following concerns over the handling of the cash, with the issue described as an internal dispute rather than a matter currently before the courts.

No criminal charges in relation to the allegations have been confirmed, and no findings have been made.

Irvine, a prominent loyalist figure, is currently serving a prison sentence, and has previously been associated with leadership structures within the UVF.

The situation highlights ongoing tensions within loyalist organisations, where disputes over leadership, influence, and control have surfaced at various points in recent years.

In Northern Ireland/The North, such internal conflicts, while not always visible publicly, have periodically had wider implications for community stability and local dynamics.

The allegations do not suggest any broader escalation, but they underline how internal disputes within paramilitary-linked structures can continue to emerge, even in the post-conflict period.

As of now, the claims remain allegations, with no formal legal process announced.
